We need to distinguish between the pure and true church organized and headed by Jesus Christ on one hand, and grossly inadequate people who lead the church in mortality, and us inadequate members, on the other hand. We can and should have empathy and forgiveness for any leaders who wrong us, while still calling out what is wrong in an attempt to set it right. We will succeed in the long run if we stay humble, clear, merciful, determined, and resolute as guided by the Spirit.
— Mark
If you bring up discussions on how the church’s actions are slowing down the work of rescuing children, it’s better to frame the discussion as the church is “unwittingly” slowing down the work instead of “intentionally” slowing down the work. Yes, we agree there are factions within the church that are intentionally protecting pedophiles, but I wouldn’t discuss those publicly (yet). It’s better to frame this as the church unwittingly slowing down the work, and keep the target on the church’s business side instead of religious side.

Behold, we will end the conflict.

Take time to braid your whip- the whip that must go into the temple, to restore and heal in whatever way is possible. Braiding your whip symbolizes what we must do to have the spiritual groundedness necessary to do hard but necessary things. How do you braid your whip? Through asking God to free you from any other state of being other than love, mercy, and power.

Refrain from judgment. None of us may ever fully grasp the reasons for such irrational actions from church leadership. It doesn’t matter why people go rogue and go wrong, it just matters that you do what you feel called to do to correct it. Let the “why” be between them and the Lord. This is essential. Just do what you feel called to do in peace and in strength, but without judgment.

Finally, remember the objective: Take the cancer out but keep the patient alive.
