“I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.”
Uninvited Friends
Our “weak things” - our troubles, challenges and sorrows, in a sense are uninvited friends, yet can all be used in God’s hands to bring us home to Him.
Some friends knock as they’re coming in.
And I rise to welcome them, but others find me, that I don’t want.
Still they come and they don’t stop.
There’s an aching in my chest. There’s some weaknesses, and distress.
And here we sit. They’re not leavin’ soon, friends I wish I never knew.
But I will breathe and carry on, and God molds me through their hands.
Even pain can serve an end- even uninvited friends.
I pour some tea, …pull up some chairs. Every friend just wants to share.
They’re just doin’ what they do, and they won’t stop until they’re through.
So I will breathe and carry on. My only play is goin’ long.
And I will love it all as is. And bring my uninvited friends.
There are things that can’t be felt in a heart that’s not been broken.
There are colors I can only see through tears.
So I breathe and carry on.
My only play is goin’ long. Even pain can serve an end.
Even uninvited friends.
